Tips for Building a Flower Bed
June 9th, 2020 | Posted by Jason RohrbaughThis time of the year is perfect for starting a flower bed. You may already have a bed picked out, but it’s deteriorating due to weather throughout the other seasons. As the weather gets warmer, it’s a good idea to start working on those lost beds around your yard. A beautiful new flower bed can an enhance your yard for the summer months and bring a fresh new look to your home.
Here are some tips on building a beautiful flower bed:
- Pick Out a Variety of Plants to Use – By picking a variety of annuals and perennials, you’ll create a beautiful centerpiece for your yard. Combine green plants with colorful flowers and mix and match the layout for a consistent look.
- Before You Plant, Fix Your Bed – In order to start planting, you’ll need to make sure your flower bed is ready. It’s good to clear out the bed of any weeds and dead plants before you start to till the soil. Once you’re done tilling, fresh new soil should be spread for the plants. Make sure spread the soil thicker than usual for a fresh new bed.
- Spread Mulch – After you spread soil and plant your flowers evenly, it’s time to lay mulch down. Again, add a thicker layer across the bed.
